Justice Planners is proud to announce that we have been selected by the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) to manage and coordinate the delivery of four nationally recognized training and technical assistance programs for local jail and detention jurisdictions across the country.
This cooperative agreement is being offered as part of NIC’s New Jail Planning Initiative, providing jurisdictions with access to a comprehensive suite of planning and development resources at every stage of the facility development process. Each program is fully funded by NIC.
Through this agreement, Justice Planners will coordinate the delivery of the following NIC programs:
— A structured on-site process that helps jurisdictions evaluate their justice system and assess readiness before committing to jail construction or renovation.
— A foundational training program that guides key decision-makers through the facility development process in preparation for a new jail project.
— An on-site technical assistance program that equips agency teams to actively lead and oversee every phase of jail design and construction.
— A comprehensive transition training that prepares officials and facility teams for the full operational complexity of opening a new or expanded detention facility.
Together, these four programs form a continuum of support — from initial system assessment through facility opening — fully aligned with the goals of the New Jail Planning Initiative and Justice Planners' commitment to helping counties and local jurisdictions make informed, strategic decisions about their detention facilities.
